Michael Hill Smith MW is a judge and vice chair in the Decanter Asia Wine Awards (DAWA).

Michael Hill Smith MW is a wine producer, international wine judge, wine consultant, and occasional wine writer. In 1988, he became the first Australian to pass the Master of Wine examination and also won the inaugural Madame Bollinger Tasting Medal.

He is co-propietor of Shaw + Smith in the Adelaide Hills and the Tolpuddle Vineyard in Tasmania. A passionate advocate of Australian fine wine, Michael was awarded an Order of Australia (AM) in 2008 for his contribution to the Australian Wine Industry, and in 2009 2011 and 2013 featured in Decanter‘s International Power List. Along with Oz Clark and Jeannie Cho Lee MW, Michael is responsible for the selection of all wines served on Singapore Airlines.

In addition to he role at the DAWA he is also Joint Chair of the DWWA.
