DWWA 2011: Top five best value rosés
Sweet Californian rosés have flown off the shelves in the UK but if it's a dry, elegant style you're looking for, Provence is your first port of call. The Decanter World Wine Awards judges were won over by the southern French region's pinks.
Chateau La Gadonne 2010 was voted the best French rosé over £10, while Chateau d'Esclans' Les Clans 2009 was not far behind on the score sheet.
The remaining spots in the highest scoring-lowest priced top five pinks were more surprising.
Marks & Spencer Raso de la Cruz 2010, made from the rather rustic Carinena, was one of the best value for money pinks, costing just £6.99.
You'd also get change from a ten pound note from Dr Loosen's Villa Wolf Pinot Noir rosé 2010 and English producer Bolney Wine Estate's rosé 2010, which complete the top five.
