DWWA Portugal Judging Panel

João Paulo Martins is a journalist who writes for Revista de Vinhos and has been the editor of Portugal’s oldest wine guide, Vinhos de Portugal, for the past 18 years. He is also the author of The Pleasure of Port, a book available in both Portuguese and English, and co-author, with Chef Vitor Sobral, of O Portugal de Hoje à Mesa, a book about Portuguese food and wine pairing, and The Wine in Portugal João has been a regular judge at the Brussels World Competition since 1998 and has also judged at competitions in London, South Africa, Brazil, Spain and Chile. He holds a degree in History from the Universidade de Lisboa.
