Nick Dumergue started his career as a sommelier in his native New Zealand in 1990. He then moved to London where he spent 15 years working and learning about the commercial side of the industry. He has worked a dozen vintages in nine countries, and has held several sales and managerial roles in Europe, Asia and Australia. As a buyer he has selected fine wines on Super Yachts in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, been part of the buying team at Harrods and for an importer in Hong Kong. A former tasting co-ordinator for Decanter, he is an occasional journalist and a regular judge. As educator and trainer, he has been an ambassador for the Sherry Institute, a lecturer in Rome and a certified educator for the WSET in London, France and Asia as well as online tutor for Diploma students around the world. He currently resides in Bali where he spends part of his time as a wine ambassador and negociant and the rest of his time surfing.
