Decanter talks exclusively to Hans Astrom, managing director of South Africa's Klein Constantia, which he will be representing at the first Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter, which takes place at The Ritz Carlton in Shanghai on Saturday 29th November.

For you personally, what is going to be the most exciting aspect of the Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter on the 29th November?
Decanter and the show will attract some consumers with a strong special interest to taste and discover some of the greatest wines in the world.

What practical piece of advice would you give to someone who is coming to a fine wine event like this for the very first time?
Keep it simple, don’t complicate things.

What wines and vintages will you be showing?
Vin De Constance 2008, Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2013 and Estate Red 2011.

Describe the style of your wines in three words?
Fresh, savoury and refined

Name one Chinese dish and one Western dish to match one (or more) of the the wines you are pouring in Shanghai on Saturday?
Chicken and Cilantro dumplings go well with our Sauvignon Blanc. In South Africa we would serve Oysters or other seafoods with our Sauvignon Blancs

What is the best piece of wine advice you have ever been given?
We learn every day and every day there is some good advice

How would you describe Shanghai in one word?
Vibrant.

Hans Astrom will be presenting a selection of Klein Constantia wines during the Grand Tasting sessions at the Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter on Saturday 29th of November.
