Dom Pérignon by the glass at Harrods
February 11, 2008
Claudia Schiffer Stuart Peskett

A luxury Dom Pérignon Champagne bar opens in Harrods today, offering the most expensive wine by the glass in the country.

Shoppers in the renowned London store will have the chance to try the 1975 Śnothèque vintage for £250 a glass, which a press release boasts the price is 'more than any other wine by the glass in the UK'.

The bespoke bar, which will be open for three weeks, until March 3, will be located in menswear, on the ground floor of the Knightsbridge landmark.

Those with shallower pockets will be able to sample a glass of the 1995 Śnothèque vintage – which has just been released in the UK – for £60. Both wines will be available for purchase at Harrods' wine shop.

The opening will be distinguished by two notable appearances: supermodel Claudia Schiffer (pictured) – who has appeared in a Dom Pérignon Śnothèque video directed by fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld – is expected to make an appearance at the bar on Tuesday 26 February.

Just remember that, if you are a serving memeber of HM Armed Forces, you will not be admitted to Harrods if you are wearing uniform - as an unfortunate officer of the Royal Horse Artillery discovered on 11th November last year when he tried to shop there with his wife and toddler after a Remembrance Day parade.
