Bordeaux 2007 campaign nears end as Ausone releases

Chateau Ausone released its 2007 this morning at €380, down about 18% on last year's price.
Ausone 2006 was €450 per bottle ex-chateau.
This release almost brings the 2007 campaign to a close, with only Cheval Blanc and Yquem still to release.
'We should have Cheval Blanc by tomorrow and maybe Yquem by the end of the week,' said Philippe Larche of Vintexnegociants in Bordeaux.
Larche, who is selling Ausone, a St Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé A, at €450 per bottle, said other merchants were already selling at more than that and predicted that in two months the price would double.
He added that Ausone, which they are offering on a per bottle basis, was selling well 'as always'.
Ausone's second wine, Chapelle d'Ausone, was also released this morning - at €60 per bottle ex-chateau.
That is a relative bargain but it is still the most expensive second wine of the 2007 campaign.
