Visitors to the event, which takes place in the Landmark Hotel in Marylebone next weekend, will be able to sample wines voted the best in the world by Decanter's judges.
These include Champagnes like the Charles Heidsieck Brut Rosé Millésimé 1999 and the Taittinger Prelude Grand Cru, and Brut 2002, top Australians including Peter Lehmann Reserve Riesling 2002 and Glaetzer's Anaperenna Shiraz Cabernet, or South Africans like the renowned Engelbrecht Els Proprietor's Blend 2005 - from champion golfer Ernie Els.
There are wines from Greece – the Biblia Chora Ovilos 2007; Northern Spain – the Pazo de Señorans Seleccion de Añada 2003 from Rias Baixas; France, Hungary, Sicily, Portugal, South Africa and just about every other wine producing region of the world.
'The one thing these wines have in common is that they have been chosen, from over 9000 wines that were entered for the Decanter World Wine Awards this year, as the best in their class,' Decanter's publishing director Sarah Kemp said.
The 54 wines selected for the Gold Room at the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter all won an International or Regional Trophy, or a Gold Award at the 2008 Decanter World Wine Awards.
The Decanter Fine Wine Encounter takes place 22 and 23 November 2008 at the Landmark Hotel, Marylebone, London NW1.
Europe's most prestigious fine wine event and now in its 11th year, the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter showcases more than 600 wines in total from around 100 of the world's top wine producers.
