Sinatra Family Estates releases first wine

September 22, 2009
Sinatra By Richard Woodard

Sinatra Family Estates has launched its first wine - Napa cabernet called Come Fly With Me.

=The 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is named in honour of Ol' Blue Eyes' 1957 classic album, his first Billboard chart-topper, which was nominated for a Grammy 50 years ago.

'Dad often ended his concerts with a toast to the audience: “May you all live to be 100 and may the last voice you hear be mine”', said Sinatra's children, Nancy, Tina and Frank Jr.

'With the launch of Sinatra Family Estates, we toast our father.'

Fewer than 500 cases are available in strictly limited allocations of the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, sourced from a 5-hectare vineyard near Calistoga.

'We spent several years seeking out the right vineyard land for this project and are delighted with the quality of the fruit it is producing,' said John Schwartz, managing partner of Sinatra Family Estates.

The label is highlighted with a classic 45rpm record, embossed with the logo of Reprise, Sinatra's own record label.

Come Fly With Me is set to be the first in a series of annual releases, each of which will celebrate Sinatra's music and offer collectors' items alongside the wine.

It sells at US$570 per six-bottle case, plus shipping and taxes, including a CD of the original 1957 recording of Come Fly With Me and a first-day US postal stamp and postcard signed by a Sinatra family member.

Sinatra Family Estates is a collaboration between the family of Frank Sinatra and their various business partners.
