Gerard Bertrand to star as the Semillons rise again
- Tuesday 9 March 2010
Following the success of their first outing in 2005, the all-male wine trade group will be stripping off again for one night only, on 8 July 2010 at Vinopolis in London’s Borough Market.
The event is being held in support of cancer research institute Everyman, Europe’s only dedicated male cancer research centre.
The eagerly anticipated line-up is set to include veteran Semillon MWs Tim Atkin and Michael Palij, as well as a host of new faces, and torsos.
These include Andrew Shaw (Waitrose), Michael Cox (Wines of Chile), Gearoid Devaney (Sommelier, Sarment), Barry Dick (Sainsbury's), Anthony Rose (The Independent) and Rupert Ellwood (Vinopolis) as well as wine writer Charles Metcalfe and Decanter magazine editor Guy Woodward.
Christelle Guibert, Decanter tastings director and organiser of the event, told decanter.com that guests should expect ‘a lot of flesh.’
‘Research into male cancer is said to be 10 years behind other cancers. This is a really great cause and it promises to be a night people will remember for the rest of their lives.’
The organisers are hoping the evening will be bigger than the 2005 event, which raised £10,000 for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
Tickets cost £31.50 for ladies and £26.50 for men, and are available through the Semillons website www.semillons.co.uk
