Decanter World Wine Awards heads Down Under
- Tuesday 13 October 2009
Sydney’s Glass Brasserie & Wine Bar is hosting the first DWWA event to be held outside London, where 30 medal-winning wines will be available by the glass until 23 October.
Speaking at the launch, sommelier Jonathan McAlder said, ‘there is a really great vibe in the Sydney wine scene right now.'
'The Decanter medal-winners on our list are really lovely - our head sommelier Kim Bickley has chosen some great wines and Decanter has done a great job.
‘We’ve had a lot of interest from the minute the promotion was announced.'
Andrew Caillard MW, of Langton’s auctioneers, praised the international scope of the Decanter World Wine Awards.
'Although we are on the other side of the world from Decanter’s headquarters this is a very sophisticated market.
‘Like any other wine show Decanter has to find its place, and its point of difference from the others is the international panel of judges,’ he added.
