Black Tower launches sparkler

Black Tower Fizz is a new departure for what is still claimed to be the world’s best-selling German wine brand.
The launch is part of a drive to turn the 1970s icon into a million-case-selling label by the summer.
Described as ‘deliciously fresh and full of lively fruit flavours of pineapple and ripe mango’, Black Tower Fizz is packaged as a single-serve, 20cl, ring-pull aluminium can aimed at younger drinkers.
Sold in trays of 24 cans and with an alcohol level of 9.5% abv, it is aimed in particular at the UK market, as well as Brazil, Canada, Korea and Sweden – in all of which it is Germany’s best-selling wine label, according to brand owner Reh Kendermann.
‘The single serve size is ideal for bars, clubs and outdoor enjoyment,’ said Reh Kendermann managing director Nik Schritz.
‘Together, with the support of our overseas partners, we believe sales from this new product will quickly speed us to achieving our goal of 1m nine-litre case sales worldwide this summer.’
Black Tower has been reinvented since its 1970s heyday during the Liebfraumilch boom. The brand portfolio now includes a rosé and a red Dornfelder/Pinot Noir blend.
