£3000 Geoffrey Roberts travel award open
- Friday 1 February 2008

One of last year’s joint winners was Florida geography teacher Richard Villadoniga who toured the United States to raise awareness of endangered American foodstuffs.
His tour and subsequent writings can be seen at www.eat-american.com. He now writes on traditional American foods for four publications.
The other winner, Jock Brandis, is also American. His money has been spent in rural communities in Southern Sudan where the Universal Nut Sheller, a simple machine designed by his Full Belly Project which needs no energy other than manpower, has helped villagers to add value to their most significant crop.
