- Friday 4 November 2005
Jefford scooped the gold ladle trophy ahead of stiff competition from fellow UK writer Tim Atkin MW and other Anglophone scribes including Natalie McLean in Canada and Australia’s Jeremy Oliver.
Another UK wine writer, Monty Waldin, also came top in the Best Wine Book category for Biodynamic Wines.
The highly popular Francophile novelist Joanne Harris won Best Softcover Recipe book under US$25 for her book The French Kitchen.
In all, 30 gold ladles were handed out at the awards ceremony which was held in Adelaide earlier this week.
The World Food Media Awards, originally sponsored by Jacob’s Creek and now presented by Wolf Blass, are now in their tenth year. Nominees are judged and winners chosen by a panel of 50 members of the food and wine industry.
