Mouton 2000, and dinner for six with Jancis Robinson under the hammer

Decanter writers Jancis Robinson MW and Fiona Beckett are offering the two rare prizes to the highest bidders on their respective websites.
Beckett is the Decanter food columnist and author of the bestselling student cookbooks Beyond Baked Beans and Sausage and Mash. She is offering a bottle of Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2000 - one of the greatest vintages of the last 100 years - to the highest bidder on her website www.beyondbakedbeans.com by midnight on 11 March.
The bottle has been donated by TV personality Philip Schofield – a wine enthusiast with a comprehensive cellar. Beckett is in no doubt she will get some good bids. As she says, ‘Tasting an outstanding wine early on in your drinking career is one of the things that gives you a love of wine for life.’
As for what the wine is worth, Berry Bros are offering single bottles for £297.87.
And for those for whom one bottle is not enough, Jancis Robinson MW and her partner, chef and Financial Times restaurant critic Nicholas Lander are offering a high-class dinner to the highest bidder on www.jancisrobinson.com by 15 March.
Robinson describes it as ‘a classic wine dinner for six.’ It will take place at the couple's North London home, wines will come from their cellar and will include de luxe champagne, Coche Dury white Burgundy, at least one mature first growth and other sought-after red Bordeaux, and vintage port.
She adds, ‘No-one will be required to guess anything (unless they want to) and no-one, absolutely no-one, we promise, will go hungry or thirsty.’
