Geoffrey Roberts Award now open

The prize has been awarded since 1996, to commemorate the late Geoffrey Roberts, a New World wine importer. Past winners have researched indigenous grape varieties in Eastern Europe, explored France and Southern England to learn about cider-making techniques, and promoted the ecological processing of vinicultural waste in Australia.

Applications close on March 30, 2004 and a winner will be chosen in early summer by an expert panel. Past judges have included Anthony Barton, Sally Clarke, Paul Henderson, Ken Hom, Hugh Johnson, Ramon Pajares and Jancis Robinson.
