Château Teyssier buys neighbouring vineyard

Production at the 7-hectare Destieux Berger will move to Teyssier (pictured) where the estate's main wine, Château Teyssier, will see a lift in production to 10,000 cases per year.
Head winemaker Jonathan Maltus said, 'This is an important step for us. Whereas recent vintages have been selling out too quickly, the increased volume of Château Teyssier will enable us to satisfy our clients' demands on a more regular basis.'
After Maltus and his wife took over the estate in 1994, they built a new winery, expanded the vineyard area, and have recently installed a new oak-vat based winery and extended barrel cellar for the 2000 harvest. Their wines are all exported to Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
The purchase comes soon after Teyssier bought vines from Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Château Canon earlier in the year, to use for one of its sought-after wines, Château Laforge.
