The 59-year old had been involved with growing grapes since first visiting her future spouse's Clarksburg California family ranch in the early 1970s.

Following the death of first husband Chris Bogle in 1997, she was instrumental in transforming Bogle into a major US brand, which now has international sales exceeding 12m bottles a year.

Jody Bogle VanDePol, Bogle's daughter and Bogle Winery International sales manager, said 'Patty loved to travel and loved that she was in an industry that allowed her to meet wonderful people, see the world, and taste great wine.'

Bogle is the largest  winery in the Clarksburg AVA, which extends across three counties of the Sacramento Delta and has ten wineries within it.
