Oddbins joins forces with War Child
- Thursday 1 November 2012
The wine - called CNDP - is made by winemaker Alain Gardier and described by Oddbins as ‘intense, fresh and energetic’.
For every bottle sold Oddbins will donate £1 to War Child, which works with children affected by war.
The charity gives aid to former child soldiers, children living on the streets, children in prison and young girls at risk of rape or violence by offering them protection and education so that they can build sustainable livelihoods.
Oddbins said in a press statement, ‘To put the £1 donation into perspective, £0.71 can send a child in the Central African Republic to school for a year; War Child’s programmes can be run for £0.22 per child per day and 1.4 billion of the world’s people live on less than £1 per day.’
Oddbins managing director Ayo Akintola said, ‘While £1 might not sound like very much to people in the UK or most of our customers, the difference it can make to the lives of children who are suffering because of armed conflicts is massive.’
The Châteauneuf-du-Pape is available for £19 at all Oddbins stores.
