Lebanon increases German investment by 50%
- Tuesday 5 February 2013
Lebanon will not take a stand at London’s International Wine Fair this year but will be attending Prowein in Düsseldorf.
‘We are upping our investment in Germany by 50%,’ Faouzi Issa, owner of Domaine des Tourelles told Decanter.com on behalf of the UVL.
‘The UK is becoming more and more profitable – we have more than 10 wineries in the market there,’ he said. ‘Germany is a very important future market for us and we are already seeing a growing level of interest there which we will be building on in the coming months.’
Lebanon’s export market is now worth over US$14m with the UK representing US$4.3m. The latest figures also show growth in the US, which is worth US$1.9m, and in the French market, worth US$2.4m.
