Hubert de Bouard becomes consultant at CA Grands Crus
- Friday 22 November 2013
In the role, de Bouard (pictured) will be working alongside winemaker Anne le Naour at Chateaux Grand-Puy Ducasse, Rayne Vigneau, Meyney, Blaignan and a new property, Clos St Vincent, in Saint Emilion.
‘Clos St Vincent was bought in 2011, has been enlarged with plots bought in 2012 and 2013, and a new cellar is being constructed,’ de Bouard told decanter.com.
This now brings the number of Left Bank estates that de Bouard is working with to ten, and points to the increasing presence of Right Bank consultants in the Médoc peninsula, with Stéphane Derenoncourt, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Michel Rolland all major presences.
‘Perhaps the Right Bank had a small advance on the Left in terms of plot-by-plot winemaking, and the precision management of the vineyard,’ said de Bouard.
‘Simply because we have traditionally had smaller estates, and so are more able to experiment at that level. Combining the great terroirs of the Left Bank with this precise approach is extremely powerful.’
