Argentinian Cabernets panel tasting results

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes currently make up 17.5% of all Argentinia's red wine grapes, but with no award winners in the selection of 72 Argentinian Cabernets tasted by a panel of Decanter contributors and wine experts questions have been raised as to the suitablility of Cabernet Sauvignon in Argentina when not part of a blend. Trapiche, Broquel, Cabernet Franc, Mendoza 2009

Expressive, forward aroma of green pepper, jam, herb, pepper and crunchy berry fruit. Quite succulent with a sophisticated structure. Lovely bright cassis fruit is tinged with herb and vanilla and framed by fine-grained tannins. Well made. 16.75pts/20
