Argentinian Cabernets panel tasting results

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes currently make up 17.5% of all Argentinia's red wine grapes, but with no award winners in the selection of 72 Argentinian Cabernets tasted by a panel of Decanter contributors and wine experts questions have been raised as to the suitablility of Cabernet Sauvignon in Argentina when not part of a blend. Nevertheless, 9 wines were given a four star rating. See them all here...

The Argentinian Cabernets tasters include: Thomas Woolrych - a buying manager for Laithwaites Wine, and is directly responsible for its Argentinian list. Marina Gayan MW - the Decanter World Wine Awards Regional Chair for Argentina and the country’s only Master of Wine. She runs her own consultancy. Dirceu Vianna Junior MW - South America’s first male Master of Wine. Buying Director for UK merchant Coe Vintners, he is also a writer, technical consultant and wine judge. Steven Spurrier - Decanter’s consultant editor. A consultant and author of several books, he also set up the Christie’s Wine Course with Michael Broadbent.
