Château Luchey-Halde, Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, France, 2015

The red is more successful than the white this year. This has some pretty Sauvignon pyrazine flavours, but overall not quite the power and vivacity of the 2014. Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon, aged in 20% new oak with lees stirring.

The balance is better in this vintage, with a lovely delicate expression of white fruits and citrus, still with the good mouthfeel and texture that comes from the warm site of this property. A real kick of personality, and very much holding on at five years old, as you want from Pessac whites. Good stuff, enjoyable, citrus rich with gentle white spice.
