The Briest family sold one part of the property to Carmes Haut-Brion in 2013, but kept key sections of the vineyard, which they have restructured and replanted since (adding Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot), working with Stéphane Derenoncourt at consultant. The 2014 blend is 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot (cab Franc just planted last year so not in use yet). Excellent gravel terroir here, located between Latour Martillac and La Garde. Tight tannins, great depth and weight of fruit. This is one of the best recent vintages at this property, lovely complexity here, bitter chocolate, charming balance between acidity, tannins and fruit, 13.5%abv.
