Guillaume Gilles, Cornas 2011
An effortless, elegant, muscular example from the northern Rhône. Very linear cassis and liquorice aromas. On the palate, there are fine, ripe, grippy tannins with beautifully sweet cassis-led fruit and notes of baked strawberry and balsamic. Powerful, rich and meaty, this could be great with beef wellington.
