Lismore, Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc, Greyton, 2014

Drinking Window: 2015 - 2018
Californian winemaker Samantha O'Keefe has crafted an elegant Graves-style white from her cool-climate vineyards at 300m on the slopes of the Riviersonderend mountains. The wine is barrel fermented with natural yeasts and spends 11 months in old oak, with lees stirring, giving it great complexity, weight and tight, bright citrus, herb and toasted nut characters.

If you are after textbook Sauvignon Blanc, then move away. This unique style is complex with notes of ripe peach and sweet spice. Unusual petrol notes emerge on the richly textured palate. The complexity and well-integrated oak and the mineral undertones make this wine highly distinctive, and a real gem.
