Mayfield, Essence Brut 2011
Planted in 2004 and 2005 with both Burgundy and Champagne clones. Despite (or because of) the clay and sandstone soil – without a hint of chalk – this wine shows that a sheltered site, attention to detail in the vineyard and ripe fruit will always show in the bottle. Amazing wine.
