Domaine Misset-Cheron, Les Barreaux, Vosne Romanée 2013
The 160 hectares of vineyards in Vosne Romanée are among the most desirable in the world, claiming six Grand Crus amongst them. This example is a lieu-dit – a small parcel of land singled out as having particularly unique characteristics, often producing wines of a quality over and above its actual designation. It is violet-hued in the glass, with red fruit of clarity and succulence. It seems a bit closed down, with bouncy acidity and some resistance to the tannins, but some air will do it good. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be ‘pretty’.
