Christopher Cannan

After a spell at Lloyds in London, Christopher Cannan joined Percy Fox & Co., then spent most of 1970 travelling in Europe, earning his board and lodging by working in cellars and vineyards. He then stayed on in Bordeaux as Assistant to the Export Director of negociant, Louis Eschenauer, where he travelled to the Channel Islands, UK, Denmark and the USA. Still based in Bordeaux, Christopher then joined New York importer, Frederick Wildman & Sons, as Assistant to the Managing Director, and when the company’s Margaux office closed in 1978, Christopher founded Europvin, a company exporting top quality single estates internationally from Bordeaux, Loire, Burgundy, Rhône and Rioja, among others, and offering logistical services. In the 1990s, Spanish companies including Vega Sicilia followed, and in 1997, Christopher purchased Clos Figueras in Priorat. Christopher’s commitment to France has earned him the nomination of Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole and since 2012, Christopher has been member of the Académie Internationale du Vin.
