Invited by Bernard Farges, president of Syndicate of AOC Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur, around 50 people including importers, local producers and special guests from the AOC arrived for a drinks reception of locally produced sparkling wine at 7pm.
Guests were able to sample 100 wines throughout the evening, all produced in the AOC and especially selected for Chinese palates.
Dinner was opened by a speech made by Mr Farge where he expressed his appreciation to the Chinese importers' efforts in enhancing the Sino-France wine trading. ‘When our producers travel to China, we are always warmly received by the Chinese importers. Now it’s our turn to show our hospitality.’
Certified CIVB lecturer and renowned Chinese wine educator Sophie Liu interpreted the opening speech into Chinese.
The evening also featured a performances by Chinese singer Li Lijuan, the winner of the highly popular Chinese talent show 'the Voice of China' in Europe, and also the representative of Christie's new real estate affiliate which offers vineyard purchase services to Chinese customers.
She performed several French and Chinese sings, including an original song composed by Bordeaux computer Patrick Brugalieres, as a sign of the China-Bordeaux friendship.
