Chateau de Rayne Vigneau

What: Dîner Gold
Where: Château de Rayne Vigneau
When: Wednesday 19th June
Host: CA Grand Crus

To
celebrate the recent renovation of Château de Rayne Vigneau, CA Grand
Crus welcomed 180 guests to a candlelit dinner in the new barrel cellar
on Wednesday 19th June 2013.

The CA Grand Crus group, including
Président Conseil de Surveillance de CA Grand Crus Joseph Turquand
d’Auzay, Président Jean-Jacques Ricoleau and Directeur Général Thierry
Budin, hosted guests from around the world at Château de Rayne Vigneau
including visitors from Japan, China, Canada, USA, UK, and Venezuela.

Dinner
took place in the newly renovated barrel cellar, which is 1000sqm and
can fit 800 barrels lying flat, making it the largest of its kind in
Sauternes.

Guests were served wines from CA Grands Crus
estates, including Château La Tour de Mons 2009 in double magnums served
with fois gras au vin rouge, and Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 1990 and
Château Meyney 1986 both in Imperials with rack of lamb.  To add a
personal touch, the service of the wines was undertaken by the cellar
masters and the vineyard managers of the wines.

The star of the
evening was the Gold de Rayne Vigneau 2005, which was presented at the
end of the dinner with a lime, passionfruit, and Kumquat dessert.  Gold
de Rayne Vigneau is only made in exceptional years, is 100% Semillon and
has only been produced twice, in 2005 and 2009.  In 2005 the grapes
were picked on 16th September precisely between 9am and 11am and only
748 numbered bottles were produced.

The evening ended with a fireworks display over the vineyards of Sauternes.
