Stephen Brook gives his top three wines from the Berry Bros Burgundy 2008 tasting.
Leaving the Berry Bros tasting, I once again found myself dazzled by the many brilliant whites, which I find more consistent than the reds. But some colleagues disagree. Certainly the best reds have wonderful purity and intensity, but there can be some grippy tannins to contend with too.
Stunning Meursaults from Bouzeron, citric, racy, and taut. My favourite was the multi-facted sherbetty Perrieres: 17.5.£450 IB.
And from J.N.Gagnard, a powerful and majestic Chassagne-Montrachet Caillerets: super-concentated but not heavy; poised, balanced, and very long. Pure joy. 18. £495 IB.
Ghislaine Barthod in Chambolle-Musigny never lets you down. Her Les Cras is perfumed and charming, while the palate is fresh and intense, with admirable purity and length. 17.5-18. £540 IB.
