Stephen Brook gives his top three wines from the Bouchard Burgundy 2008 tasting.
Bouchard Pere et Fils showed a sound rather than brilliant range this year. Among the lesser whites Beaune Clos St Landry is a great success: fresh and vibrant on the nose; rich, ripe and juicy on the palate, but with fine acidity to give elegance and length. 17. £250 IB.
The Chevalier Montrachet is superb, but pricy: toasty on the nose, and rich and airy on the palate, with good acidity and real grip on the finish, which is very long. One for cellaring. 18. £1130 IB.
The reds are patchier, but there's a delicious Nuits St Georges Cailles: fragrant and intense red-fruits aromas, and a creamy but piquant palate, with ripe tannins, finesse, and length. 17-17.5. £426 IB.
