Burgundy 2008: Top 3 from GoedhuisSpecials Specials http://www.decanter.com/specials/483884/burgundy-2008-top-3-from-goedhuis
At Goedhuis, the first 2008 Burgundy tasting of the year shows, for a start, that this is a fine vintage, with many delicious white and red wines.
Nicolas Potel, having sold his name and brand, is now reincarnated as Maison Roche de Bellene.
Impeccable quality. Loved his Chambolle Amoureuses: so delicate and pure on the nose, so rich and suave on the palate yet with a light touch and fabulous length. (18; £990IB).
A fine range from Fichet in Meursault, and a bargain Bourgogne Vieilles Vignes: spicy and lively, tangy and long, punching above its weight. (16.5; £135IB).
And glorious reds from both Fourrier and Grivot.
Blown away by Grivot's Echezeaux: oaky and stylish on the nose, svelte and opulent on the palate, with grip, spice, and length. (18. £890).
But the wretched exchange rate keeps the wines expensive.
