Ndidi Ekubia, Will Odell and Brian Williamson
Ndidi graduated with an MA in Silversmithing from the Royal College of Art in 1998 and after several prestigious residences set up her own silversmithing business. Her reputation and profile have developed rapidly over the years and she is regarded as one of the country’s preeminent silversmiths with a loyal following of collectors. Inspiration for her work stems from the patterns of everyday life: from the cityscape of London through to organic natural forms. She uses traditional silversmithing techniques that require the beating of sheet silver over steel and wooden forms. In doing this the metal is pushed to its limits and the result is an organic and vital silver vessel which resonates with Ndidi’s passion and energy.
Will is one of Britain’s upcoming young silversmiths producing a dynamic and innovative range of work. He grew up in the Northamptonshire village of Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix, and spent many weekends around vintage cars at races and events. His passion for vintage cars has given him an appreciation of the traditional techniques of automotive engineering many of which are still used by contemporary metalworkers. He studied silversmithing at the University for the Creative Arts at Farnham graduating in 2007. Will also has a keen interest in wine and and produces a variety of wine related silver including a range of wine labels. Will is a regular exhibitor at the prestigious Goldsmiths’ Fair.
Brian has more than 30 years experience in the trade and as a consequence is highly skilled silversmith with expert knowledge of all silversmithing techniques. He is particularly known for his stylish award-winning contemporary table silver which is designed to enhance the most modern environments. Functionality is at the core of all Brian’s work, softened with specialised surface embellishment techniques. The natural skin of an orange best describes the textural finish of his latest work where the silver has been hammer-chased to create a unique surface. Brian’s pieces reflect his passion for creating bold impressive silver with a contemporary attitude. All his pieces are hand-made in his London workshop.
