Matt Wilkin MS arrived in the UK in December 1998 following a number of years learning his trade in Australia and France. He consults for a wine-led gastropub in West London called The Princess Victoria, which won Time Out’s Best Gastro Pub 2008, and The Drinking Out Excellence Awards for UK Wine Pub of the Year 2009. Previously, Wilkin was London on-trade sales executive at Genesis Wines for two-and-a-half years, as well as executive sommelier at the two-Michelin-starred Capital Restaurant and Hotel Group Knightsbridge, where he oversaw wine purchasing, liaising with suppliers, staff training; private event wine tasting’s and cellar management for six operations. He was also named Champagne Trophée Ruinart UK Sommelier of the Year 2005, Wine International Sommelier of the Year 2002, and most recently Young Australian Achiever of the Year in the UK at The Australia Day Awards.
