Gábor Cseke is a Hungarian sommelier who finished his studies in 2005 at the College of Commerce, Catering and Tourism in Budapest, where he realised he wanted to work in the wine business. He completed his first sommelier and WSET courses in Budapest (Borkollégium) and London, and trained at Gundel Restaurant and wine merchant Bortársaság. Since 2007, he has lived in England, and he is the head sommelier at the Great Fosters hotel in Egham, Surrey, having worked in the two-Michelin-starred Pied á Terre and the 1901 Restaurant in London. Gábor represented Hungary at the Meilleur Sommelier d'Europe competition in 2008 in Sofia as one of the youngest candidates, and last year, organised a Hungarian dry-wine tasting at the Hungarian Cultural Centre of London for the press and trade. He is now studying for his WSET Diploma, and started to build up his own domaine in the Zala wine region of South-West-Hungary.
