Burgundy 2008: Top 3 from Howard Ripley

Stephen Brook gives his top three wines from the Howard Ripley Burgundy 2008 tasting

An enthralling ragbag of wines at Howard Ripley.

Some bargains, such as Jouard‘s assertive, mineral Chassagne-Montrachet (£180 IB), but many red Village wines were quite hard. However, Comte Armand’s Pommard Clos des Epeneaux, often tough as boots, showed brilliantly: a bit porty on the nose, but virile, powerful, and spicy on the palate (£480 IB).

Arnoux’s Latricieres-Chambertin truly sumptuous, but the price is bruising (£1600 IB).
