English wine

English wine is currently enjoying the spotlight with the world focused on which varieties will be attached to two of this year's biggest events: the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.

With approximately 1,500 ha of land under vine, more than 400 vineyards and a 60% production increase in the last five years English wine is fast becoming a variety worth getting to know.

English sparkling wine specifically has been highly praised for its quality, often rivaling that of Champagne.

Some of the most recognisable English wine varieties include: Ridgeview Estate, Denbies, Chapel Down, Hush Heath, Camel Valley and Nyetimber.
