St Emilion Classification

The wines of St Emilion fall into two appellations: St Emilion and St Emilion Grand Cru.

In the latter appellation there is a Classifcation made up of Grand Cru Classes and Premier Grand Cru Classes.

The Classification is reviewed every 10 years (since its creation in 1955), with the most recent being officially announced on 6th September 2012 and signed on the 7th November by the French Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.

There are now 18 properties that are classified as Premiers Grands Crus Classes and 64 properties that are classified as Grands Crus Classes.
