The 2012 Olympic Games are taking place in London; with the opening ceremony on Friday 27th July and the closing ceremony on 12th August.

London will become the first city to officially host the modern games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and 1948.

In an Olympic first, the International Olympic Committee tasked Bibendum, the official wine supplier to London 2012 hospitality events to secure a range of wines to be sold at all Games venues, these include a Chenin Blanc and a rose from Stellenrust in South Africa as well as a Shiraz and Tempranillo from Brazil’s Miolo-owned Seival Estate.

Other wines being served in the hospitality suites at the Olympics include: England’s Hush Heath Balfour Brut Rose 2008, Brunello di Montalcino Castello Banfi 2006, Best’s Dolcetto 2010, Quinta do Sieval Castas Portuguesas 2006 and Domaine Latour-Giraud Meursault Cuvee Charles Maxime 2008.
