Best Appellations

Tannin levels and considerable coarseness affected the wines of the southern Rhône, notably Châteauneuf-du-Pape. However, there were some better wines from the north, especially Côte Rotie, although some of the wines were quite beefy. (Low acidity resulted in short-lived Condrieu)
