Region 'Red Rhone' - Year 1987
|drink soon||Reds from Chateauneuf were light and should have been drunk by now; the vintage was excellent in Cote Rotie|
After a satisfactory flowering in the north, the summer that followed was mostly wet. Fortunately dry weather returned in September, and the grapes ripened quite successfully. Although the rain marred the reputation of the vintage, it was excellent in Côte Rotie, where picking began on 8 October, a week after Hermitage. The south was less fortunate, as the damp summer provoked disease, insect infestation, and rot.
Reds from Châteauneuf were light and should have been drunk. (Light wines from Condrieu)
Few wines of note, and all should have been drunk up by now. Jaboulet released no Hermitage La Chapelle at all.
