Decanter secures top names for Great Bordeaux Fine Wine Encounter

A host of top chateaux, including Lynch Bages, Gruaud Larose and Chateau Coutet have been confirmed to present their wines at this year's Great Bordeaux Fine Wine Encounter, together with a special en primeur 2011 showcase.

For the first time at a Bordeaux Fine Wine Encounter wine enthusiasts will be able to gain a unique insight into en primeur with Decanter’s dedicated showcase. There will be free seminars throughout the day from experts including Steven Spurrier, Stephen Brook and Jim Budd, followed by exclusive tastings of the 2011 vintage.

The showcase, running in association with en primeur specialists Berry Bros. & Rudd, will also provide guidance on how to buy wine en primeur, and tips on wine investment.

During this year’s Bordeaux Fine Wine Encounter, held at The Landmark Hotel on Saturday 16 June, consumers will get the chance to taste an exceptional range of 300 fine wines from more than 80 of the region’s most prestigious producers and to meet the winemakers themselves.

There are three masterclass tutored-tastings taking place throughout the day: Château Lynch Bages presented by Jean-Charles Cazes (sold out), Château Guraud Larose – The Jewel of St-Julien presented by David Launay and Legendary wines from Pessac-Léognan.

Decanter’s Discovery Theatre will be hosting a smaller tutored-tasting on the wines from Château Coutet and Château Suduiraut.

There will also be a private room showcasing wines from the Pessac Léognan region as part of a new feature to the encounter. Around 30 top producers, including nine classed growths such as Château Smith Haut-Lafitte, Château Olivier and Château Pape Clément will be presenting their iconic wines.

Grand tasting tickets cost £40 each, masterclass tickets are £75 each and Discovery Theatre tickets are £10 each.

Places at the en primeur seminars and tasting sessions are free and must be booked on the day in reception. They are strictly limited and subject to availability.
