Harrods signs Richard Corrigan and Galvin brothers

Harrods has begun 2012 with two high-profile restaurant signings for the department's Food Hall: the Galvin brothers and Richard Corrigan.

First to open in March will be Galvin Demoiselle, the fifth London restaurant to be opened by Chris and Jeff Galvin.

The 60-cover bistro restaurant, to be managed by Sara Galvin, wife of Chris, will focus on French cuisine, including a number of signature Galvin dishes such as confit pork cheeks and tarte tatin.

Meanwhile, Richard Corrigan is set to open a new Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill outlet in the store’s Meat & Fish Hall in May, taking the space currently occupied by Harrods’ Sea Grill seafood restaurant.

Taking its cue from the Bentley’s site just off Piccadilly, the 25-cover restaurant will include a crustacean bar, and a range of seafood and fish, including seafood cocktails and pies.

The moves by the historic department store follow a busy 2011 which saw the opening of a pop-up restaurant from Thomas Keller of Napa’s French Laundry, a new steakhouse and tea room, as well as the revamped wine and spirit department, which opened in late 2010.

Paul Goodale, Harrods’ director of restaurants, said the new openings ‘signal our long-term plans to build partnerships with the industry’s most respected chefs and to further strengthen our portfolio of 28 restaurants’.
