Philadelphia: new wine diploma

The Wine School of Philadelphia has launched a wine education diploma.

The Diploma Oenotropae is a year-long comprehensive program with professional certification at the university level. It is backed by the newly-formed American Wine Foundation.

Introductory courses on wine tasting, Old and New World whites and reds, and winemaking, are supplemented by intermediate courses that introduce students to the world’s wine regions.

The advanced sections of the course, some of which are also available

online, cover Bordeaux, elements of terroir, and the world’s wine regions.

Another element of the course is a beer and brewing certificate or a bartending certificate: students can do either on completion of the wine course.

Although designed for professionals, the program incorporates programs for consumers and wine enthusiasts.
