The Wine Group: a correction

On 14 December 2006 we ran an article headlined Loophole allows foreign wine in American blends.

This was a correction of an earlier article headlined Loophole allows foreign wine in California blends, in which we were incorrect in reporting that The Wine Group labels wine as being from ‘California’ where such wine contains foreign wine.

We would like to stress that at no time did we have information supporting a conclusion that The Wine Group in any way violates state or federal labelling law.

We apologise for giving this impression in the first article.

We also stated that The Wine Group was based in Ceres, when in fact it is San Francisco-based. This has now been corrected.
