Decanter has announced a star-studded line-up of Spanish winemakers for its upcoming Fine Wine Encounter, including Vega-Sicilia, Marques de Murrieta, Alvaro Palacios and La Rioja Alta.
The event, now in its second year, will feature 50 top Spanish wineries with 300 wines to taste as well as three top masterclasses, a Sherry pop-up bar and an education zone with Sarah Jane Evans.
Wine enthusiasts will have the chance to discover Spain’s greatest wines all under one roof as well as experience three exclusive masterclasses throughout the day.
The masterclasses include The Legendary Wines of Bodegas with Marqués de Murrieta, Pioneering The New Spain with Alvaro Palacios and 100 Years of Excellence with La Rioja Alta.
Also for the first time at a Decanter Fine Wine Encounter, wine aficionados will have the chance to taste rare vintages of one of the world’s most celebrated wineries as Spain’s first growth Vega-Sicilia will host an exclusive lunch with six of its renowned wines.
Over three courses in the Empire Room of London’s Landmark Hotel, Vega-Sicilia oenologist Javier Ausás will present Alion 2007, Pintia 2007, Valubena 2006, Unico 2000 and Unico 1994.
Regarded as Spain’s ‘first growth’ and most prestigious wine estate, Vega-Sicilia is a symbol of elegance, finesse and complexity in winemaking. Its wines are revered around the world for their unique personality.
Encounter visitors will also be able to sample some fantastic Sherries from award-winning Bar Pepito. Bringing the best of Jerez to London, Bar Pepito specialises in a range of the most exciting styles of Sherry, and will be showcasing a top selection at the Encounter, along with Spanish ham and cheese to taste.
Single tickets to the grand tasting event (£40) plus masterclass tickets (£65) can be purchased here while tickets to the Vega-Sicilia lunch (£100 for the lunch only or £120 which includes a grand tasting ticket) can only be purchased by calling the Decanter office on 020 3148 4513.
