All of these star buys from France, Italy and England were originally judged as ‘outstanding’ in Decanter expert tastings, meaning that they scored at least 95 points. They were subsequently re-tasted blind by Peter Richards MW, Sarah Jane Evans MW and Xavier Rousset MS.

See the wines below, including two English sparkling wines – one each from Hattingley Valley and Nyetimber – in what has been another promising year for England’s fledgling wine industry.

There is strong regional diversity in the star buys from France, from Château Boyd Cantenac 2005 from Margaux, Bordeaux, and Domaine Joblot’s Servoisine, a premier cru Givry from Burgundy, to a filip for new-wave Cahors Malbec with Château de Chambert 2009 also making the list.

Where points are given, the score is from the original Decanter tasting and is not intended as a ranking for the star buys collection.
